The Cowtown Marathon Race Recap (Twenty-Milers are Overrated)

I am in the middle of training for the Revel Mt. Charleston Marathon again, with the hope of earning a BQ and helping my friend get to Boston. As I was glancing at my training plan, hashing out when to do long runs and looking at weekend obligations, I was dreading my next 20 mile training run. Twenty-milers never seem to go well for me. They take forever, I usually have to stop or break them into two parts and they leave me feeling useless for the rest of the weekend. Some of my best marathon times were run without a 20 mile training run. So, when I glanced at my calendar for the weekend of February 24th and saw that I didn’t have a performance, my mind started formulating a plan.
